Sumati Sundaram, PhD
Dr. Sundaram has over 10 years of experience in basic and translational regenerative medicine with a focus on cellular therapies and engineered tissues. She has collaborated extensively on a wide range of projects covering tissue regeneration strategies and disease modeling in organ systems such as vascular, lung, trachea and esophagus. Prior to joining Biostage, she was a scientist at the US Naval research laboratory. Previously she completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Yale School of Medicine, where she was the two-time recipient of the Connecticut Stem Cell Foundation’s Young Investigator award. Sumati has authored numerous scientific research articles and book chapters in the areas of gene therapy, stem cells and tissue engineering. She received her PhD in Biochemical Engineering from Rutgers University and Bachelors in Chemical Engineering from Institute of Chemical Technology (Formerly UDCT, Mumbai, India).
